LOTS OF STUMPS.i remember years ago my dad got a bass a little shy of 8 pounds.i wasent with him but he got it mounted was real light in color but fat.

I have noticed the same thing,I think it might have something to do with the ph of the water,I have a few fish tanks in my house and I can tell when the ph of my water is off by the coloration of the fish.
