7 inch or bigger gps combo fishfinder ?
« on: Apr 05, 2015, 07:48 AM »

Thinking about upgrading to a new 7 inch screen or bigger.  I  would like to see what's down there and not bitting. Maybe thinking about the garmin 70 xv or 93 unit. I have an Eagle 5 inch screen combo unit that works good now I just want a new one.

Can't go wrong with a Garmin... Also take a look at Raymarine, if you don't mind the cost.

I just picked up the 7" Raymarine Dragonfly. Can't speak to its functioning as I haven't taken it out yet, but the reviews I read were pretty good.

Last season I bought a   Lowrance 7 in HD with a bunch of other letters model.  It has side scan.  Using the three way split screen; down scan, side scan, and plotter; the screen is too small.  I guess I will be buying another screen and HDMI cable for plotter.  See how that works.  IMO the side scan needs a stand alone 7 in minimum screen.

Also picked up the lowrance elite 7 chirp, heard great things about it and it's relatively affordable.

I went from a Lowr HDS-5 to an Elite7 CHIRP last week.  Got the 7 for $650. Wanted an Elite9 but it was $1400.  Put the 5 on the bow to go with the new Terrova 80 us2.
