Yes, those are the Jumbos. We get them on old Ralph's homemede yellow jigs with no bait. One year we didn't catch any under 5 or 6 lbs. I think they may be in around that point when the walleye are spawning trying to eat the eggs. They are commercial fished through the ice in winter. We are fortunate, I know because they are much larger than the mountain whitefish or whitefish from other lakes. Even though they're not bad smoked, and they bake up not bad with a stuffing, they aren't as good eating as the ones from the commercial fishery in La Ronge or other northern lakes. The result is that I only keep one or two to eat and release the rest. Pound for pound, they are terrific fighters.
