Caught a new PB today

It was a good end to an otherwise slow day. Was throwing a 3" swimbait on an ultralight rod. I stopped reeling when my old man shifted the boat into reverse and let it sink, and the rod slowly bent over like a catfish would feel like. At first I thought I was snagged until I felt the head shakes. We had to back down on it like a tuna so I wouldn't have to play it to exhaustion. Snapped a few pics real quick and off it went nice and healthy to get ready to spawn. You can see in the pic its pretty beat up from making its spawning bed. Almost 24" on the tape, and if I had to guess it was a solid 5lbs.

Great bass!  She'll certainly go 5# taping at 24".  And being ready to spawn, probably had some nice girth.  I'd bet that fish was every bit of 6.

6-6.5# would be my guess.  Nice fish!! 👍👍

Wow! Nice fish, i'd say closer to 7 judging by the length
