I just saw a Penn 309 with 200yds of leadcore line for sale on Craig's list for $60.  I looks in great shape

It does, thank you.

I see the price was dropped to $50.  I already have 4 lead core reels or I would buy it.

I am personally a 12 or 15 pd. lead core guy and have too many reels already but would make a nice reliable unit for someone getting started and a good price.

Old thread but some great old fishermen on it - what's everybody loving on these days?  Same old or something new and different?

Call me crazy but I think I'm going to try the Stealth core, two color principle, just wish 18# wasn't the lightest it comes.

I know someone using it.  He said it has not bled yet (second season).  He didn't notice any real difference in catching with it but did say you had to pay closer attention to know what you had out.

I actually found a spool of 12# Woodstock in some fishing stuff I had, no clue how old or long I've had it, and threw it on an old Penn 209.  Took a little dip last night with it, cant speak to long term durability or color fade, but virtually no drag through the water which I enjoyed, we'll see.

Ive been using 18# woodstock for nearly 20 years... haven't had a problem with it yet!
