Spring trolling
« on: Apr 25, 2021, 07:53 AM »
My first troll of the season was on 4/11.
It was a slow morning for 3 of us . One 16” salmon was the only fish that made it to the net.
Yesterday was the first time trying out my new rod rack . Very pleased with having 6 rod holders all in one place. We started out trolling smelts in 42* water.
The first hook up Sean and I had doubles with Browns . Dan was casting fly’s off the bow while we were trolling. He didn’t have any luck so the next time the rod curled over I let him take it. He wasn’t disappointed when he saw me scoop it into the net. It was a beauty at 23” with a hook jaw .  We caught 4 Browns on smelt and 2 on a orange crush trolling spoon . I also caught a 13” white perch that fought like a trout with head shakes . It was a great outing and all 7 fish swam away.

That's awesome and glad that rod holder worked out for you. More lines in the water means a better chance at more fish! Beautiful browns.

Looks like a great day.

Gotta love fish you have to hug to hold!

It was a strong fish for sure. It left some slime on Dan’s jacket. 🤣
