Uh oh. If he's looking for my shrooms, next time I see him he's toast!
-
That's a big deer.
-
I'll go with moose too!
-
That's a big deer.
that was my guess as moose dont usually have their peds that close together when they stand and they dont run like a deer they really just kindawalk, walk fast, or trot for the most part
-
I don't know...but does your dodge have a HEMI? ;D ;D I'd have to say a large Deer though
-
What kind of car do you drive ? an early 90's Chrysler LOL

Looks like a 90's or later Dakota or Ram key. I've had both
-
a person who got bored so they decided to make fake tracks in the ground to confuse any one who walks past  i only say that cause ive done stuff like that before and go and ask my buddies what kind they are. then listen to them argue for half a hour :P
-
Average run of the mill Michigan white tailed deer!
-
LOL. I drive a 2000 Dakota XLT. No Hemi, but some performance mods done.
And no, I didnt make the tracks.
And if that was a whitetail, it would be a world record deer. Anyone that guessed whitetail LOSES A TURN!
:P
-
I measured my keys as they were laying on the ground. From key tip to key tip is almost 7 inches.
You will never see the back two hoof pads on a whitetail unless he is running or walking through sand. And you can plainy see this one was not running.
-
Well, you live in MI so I'm guessing moose then. Unless you have Elk...which could be I guess. I disagree about seeing the dewclaws however. On a large whitetail buck the dewclaws usually leave a prominent mark whether walking or running.
-
Ok, maybe never was the wrong word. Never around here maybe. The UP does not grow many big bucks, due in part to poor deer management, and part because we have such hard winters. Deer in the UP migrate to "yard" up in deep cedar swaps to survive our winters. A lack of nutritious browsing also plays a part.
-
Almost looks like it could be a boar print? (wild pig maybe)
-
Deposit....good guess. The tracks are pretty close..except the dew claws on a pig point directly to the left and right, and are much larger for the size of the track and are sharp tipped, so usually leave a very clean impression. The stride length (which I know, I didnt have pics of) was pretty long as well.
Other than that, there were no signs of rubbing or rooting anywhere in the vicinity (and I covered it well looking for shrooms).
-
There is no way it's anything but a big whitetail. It's not even close to looking like a moose track.

Whitetail Track

Of course, the tracks will be splayed wider depending on the weight of the animal or if it was running or not. If they were not as large as they were, I'd agree Willy, they look like Whitetail tracks....except way too big.
I actually saw the animal, but I dont want to be laughed at....being as I've been told by the DNR that we dont have them within our region, and ya'll think it was a whitetail. You guys prolly think I'm nuts as is :P
-
Somebody get TrapperDirk on this one ASAP ;D
-
Fallow or axis deer maybe? ;D
-
Fallow or axis deer maybe? ;D
Definitely a groundhog/turkey Hybrid ::)
-
That would actually be more believable. We do have at least one game farm in the UP that has fallow deer.
-
Definitely a groundhog/turkey Hybrid ::)
Not the vicious Gurkey! Dreaded and feared...
-
How about a big old mulley that got lost. I know for sure it's not a gurkey, I've seen them before.
Jim

I just had a Gurkey sandwich on wheat with a touch of mayo. I hit it on my way to work, cooked it on the engine on the way in.

They're really good with a touch of froglic sauce (garlic and frog)

It must be the infamous Jackalope!!
-
It must be the infamous Jackalope!!
Has to be ! Cant be a deer the tracks are way too close for a deer .
Looks like a hoax to me !!!
-
I swear upon all that is holy, upon the holy Grandaddy King Salmon himself, these tracks real and not manmade. There were a whole line of them down the middle of the trail for about a quarter of a mile right where I saw the critter scoot to.
-
if you were in maine i would guess a "rain" deer ;D
-
Just a guess without a discription of your sighting but I would have to say a stray sheep .... but you would have to ask those boys from Nebraska and Wyoming to be sure . :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol:
-
Appears like nothing other than Human Sapien pranksteroo
-
Not the vicious Gurkey! Dreaded and feared...
LMAO!!! That is funny!!
Is it a Caribou?? I dont know if they are in MI??
-
Appears like nothing other than Human Sapien pranksteroo
LMAO Thats good I'm going to have to steal that one !
-
there are elk in mich..but not in killitandgrillits part of the state..there are *some* moose in the area..but im pretty sure a moose track is a litte bigger and wider then that..the length is something..but width..i just cant reason a moose...i like the idea about wild boar..the Upper pennisula of michigan actually had a large accidental release of wild boar a few years back...my guess is a large white tail...the track just isnt wide enough for a moose..
ps...theres no carribo in mich.lol.
-
MOOSE!
Im gonna go with a moose as well....but its a sure bet that its been around the block a few times....*dang her toes sure do spread far* :rotflol:

You are barking up the wrong tree dad..lol
-
I'm going with elk...or maybe a big pig....which ever "scoots".
-
Its nothin but a deer that sunk his hooves into sand and that is why the dews are showing. The toes are "splayed" because the deeper the step is,the wider the splay will be.I hunt on islands with sand almost exclusevlly and ive seen lots of tracks like these. The tracks are close together because it is probably a male and his hips are closer together than a female.the only other thing it could be is the person with the keys made the tracks.....but i doubt it.
-
Finally someone agrees with me on the correct answer
-
Thought it was a forked toe person from maine? Especially after the loss in the Winter games on IS.
Probably sulking after they refuse to send lobsters from their pots!
I'll take whats behind door #1 monty!
-
Pronghorn but whatis it doing in Min
-
its not wide enough for a moose..theres no elk in mich upper pennisula...its a large white tail..in soft sand the track would appear huge..thats my final vote.
-
200+ lb deer.
-
Somebody's wife get loose in the U.P.? ;D
-
is that a mule deer
-
We it sure looks like Nauga tracks to me . I don't think they have them there . Must be shipped in from one of those Genuine Naugahyde ranches in Mexico .
-
I think a big white tail but he hasn't told us yet so I'm guessing that not what he thinks he saw. And for the game commission telling you there not there thats a joke I'm surprised the PA game commission hasn't started staying there are no white tails in PA. Well seeing how the are giving out a million tags there arnt going to be any.
-
Camel toe maybe?
Could be a moose knuckle....
-
Pronghorn but whatis it doing in Min
That would be my guess too seeing as they "scoot"
-
I wonder if he's ever going to tell us what it is.
