I will b there in the morning. Anyone else going?
-
no, but send a report, so i dont have to waste gas on a bad bite. thx
-
There are some people who always seem to do good there. Guess I just don't know all the hot spots yet. If I get enough for a dinner I am happy.
-
fantastic bite today. seemed like almost every cast. got 50 in about 4 hrs. no monsters but all decent fish. Threw back around 20. water temp was 68. Males are milking. go get ya sum.... hope 2 b back Friday... all but 3 were males.
-
Glad to hear you got on em them this time. Hope the bite continues thru the memorial day weekend. I plan on hitting it hard and enjoy some good bbq, listen to the race on the radio. That's always been my tradition. Back in the 60's dad with take us boys out on Memorial day fishing and listen to an old pocket radio.
-
Nice...go get em!!!!
-
Planning on heading out at 8 am. Looks like the rains are going to cooperate till late tonight. GOOD LUCK...
-
there WAS A BASS TOURNAMENT GOING ON THIS MORNING. a CHILLY DAY BUT, DID MANAGE 2 LIMITS IN ONLY 2 HOURS. never HAD 2 MOVE
-
Looks like Tuesday for round three. It is a fight.
-
Hey Al is that bait shop open across the street from the slough
-

-
Wow thanks
-
anyone going in the morning?
-
Bite was on again today. Water dropped a degree and the males weren't milking. Did get a few females. Took 4 hours today. Lots of people were fishing. This weekend ought to be HOTTT... Full moon Monday with a couple days of 80 degrees look out.. Also, caught 3 bonus fish all 18 inch bass.
-
Another great day. water temp was 62 when we started and 76 when we left. It was slow till the water temps hit 68. Got cold last night and fish didnt want to bite.
-
Going to give it another whirl Friday, then take the rest of the weekend off. Traffic on the lake may be very crowded. Might take 30 minutes till you get your turn. Friday shouldn't be soo bad. I hope...
-
30 minutes? If you're lucky. Have fun up there this weekend. Not this guy. I actually backed up a trailer for a couple guys last night so they could load up. I have no idea how they launched. When i was leaving i watched a guy jack knife his trailer between the docks. Not my idea of a good time.
-
1 hr and 15 minutes = 50 gills. it is on and the camp is filling up quick... 5 times cleaning gills from the slough and not 1 worm. Maybe they haven't infested in the fish yet. Water might have to get warmer??? Seems I remember in years past there was always a few fish with worms. I am by no means complaining. LOL
-
Is everyone else tearing them up as well? I would imagine everyone should be filling the boat.
-
I tore up the 7 1/2" females wednesday night. Caught them everywhere I casted it seemed. Only had 7 fish that went 8 inches though. I bet it gets tough as the weekend goes on. Tons of boat traffic and 3' of water doesn't go well.
-
Anyone care to share any stories that occurred at the slough over the weekend. I am sure there were a few anyway...
-
Nothing exciting to share today. 2 guys, 42 fish. Got rather hot, left and soaked up the a.c. the rest of the day
-
Going in the morning. Hoping to get them before it gets too HOT.
-
It's beyond hot now. I'm ready for winter. I can always put more clothes on in the winter, but i can only take so much off in summer, until people start to complain!
-
Anyone planning on going in the morning?
-
Very little boat traffic this morning. Weeds are taking off. Temp was 78 degrees at 9am. Took 1 1/2 hours to boat 50. get them while you still can. It wont be long till the fly rods will come out cause of the thick weed cover. Many floating already. Hard to believe how much the lake has changed in 4 days.
-
Think I will give it another try on Friday. It is going to be a little milder and it shouldn't be a bake feast.
-

I use tilapia I hatch and raise on the farm to control my filamentous algae and rooted plants in my biggest pond. No chemicals and weed cutting needed. I plant about a dozen broodfish into one of my smaller ponds in the spring and let them reproduce with no feeding needed. Then in the fall I seine out a few hundred of the offspring and put them in one of my basement DIY recirculating tanks and grow them out until spring. Then the cycle is started all over again with planting broodfish and I plant about 100 eight to twelve inch fish into the biggest pond and sell the excess to local pond owners.
One of the other benefits is they constantly spawn which provides forage for the bass along with available bluegills. Sure beats the expensive chemicals and labor needed otherwise.
No worries about them taking over the ponds as they die when water temps drop below 50 F.
They don't touch my bullrush so do cut it out late in the fall when it turns brown and dies and burn it. I like the bullrush along the shore but when it dies in the fall it builds up on the bottom which I don't want. Comes up nicely again in the spring.
A certain number of blue tilapia will control the filamentous algae but if you stock more they will control the rooted plants. I once had a couple hundred in a 1/10th acre pond and they left the bottom like a moonscape! Even went after the grass growing in the shallows!

Wow that's a great reader, congrats
-
then you would just have to let rope out and pull it in manually. it would work just fine that way. you could rig old weed eater shaft to a cordless drill maybe? put a plywood saw blade on the end? if its so weed chocked you have to long pole threw holes id be coming up with something. sounds like its one heck of a meat producer if you could get at them.
and WHY YOU YELLING AT ME? lmao
I POST WITH CAPS ON. DOESNT MEAN I AM YELLING
-
OK THEN
how much do you sell them for taxi? do they get big enough to eat by fall?
I get $4.00 each for 8 to 11 inch fish which is a bargain as a friend that sells and stocks them with his pond management company gets $15.00 a pound for them. That said I don't raise them to sell. I only sell extra fish.

Going to try in the morning. Anyone else going?

I may , I have some stuff to take care of in the morning then hoping to load the boat an the dog up and head out to the Slough or Bruce . Is it worth heading out the way about 10 Al ? Or is the bite done by then ?

Lake is very weedy. They were spraying today. The road is closed for paving. Only kept 16 nice ones. It is HOT.... Done by 1130. Time to start chasing the perch.
-
do you chase perch every year after they spray the lake weeds?
