Must be an upcycle for smelt in the Q this year judging by the condition factors on those salmon!

Youd be surprised. Its hard to find clouds of smelt there.

I’ve never fished the q, but the lakes around me that I fish for lls do tend to have good smelt populations (lately), but when we bring some home for table fare I am always amazed what I find in there.
Many this time of year are packed with yoy smelt, but one I kept a few weeks back had a ton of yoy white perch in its gullet. I’ve seen everything from corn, to bugs, bigger baitfish and game fish like perch up to 4”. I really think especially in our small northeast lake systems that they predate on a lot more than just smelt, and they do it in places we would never expect.

Ah missed that. Stripernut would be a better resource for that Cecil. He knows him better than I do.
