Good job Mark. Even if she laid her eggs in the nest they will hatch and the little ones will survive.

Nice work! I tried to save one last week but by the time I turned around...I was too late.  Some of those ole snappers are probably 100 years old!

The sad part is, in today's messed up world, he might have been paying to much attention and hit it on purpose.

You guy's won't believe this story, but it is true! A number of years ago, my friend Nelly's husband was driving down rt 28 in Methuen, near the Spiket River with his children in the car. They came across a rather large snapping turtle attempting to cross the street. He was a loving, caring and compassionate father and pulled the car to help the turtle. He was able to get it in the car. Thinking he was doing the right thing to help the turtle, he was going to bring it down to the Merrimack River and let it go. While driving down the road, the turtle began attacking them and trying to bite. While he was trying to fend off the turtle, he ran the car off the road, crashed and was killed in the accident. God bless him and his family.

Please no jokes this is a true story. I'm a lot of things, but a liar is not one of them.

When the temperature is right female snapping turtles will go in search of soft sand that they can lay there eggs in. If you come across one attempting to cross the street, the best thing you can do is to leave them alone. Stop the traffic if you feel you can do so safely. Let them go about there business.
Glenn, get the net!
