Changing hooks o a jitterbug?
« on: Jun 07, 2010, 03:08 PM »
Over the last few trips, my jitterbug has taken a beating. The rear treble has been bent out a bit. Because it's not a traditional split ring set up, I'm not sure that I can switch the hook out. Has anyone taken the screws out and replaced a hook on a jitterbug successfully? I'll try and post a pic tonight after my son's baseball game.

You could probably cut the old hook off, then put on a split ring.  Not sure exactly what the jitterbugs are set up like, though...

I have unscrewed the "holders" and put new hooks on, but the real trick is finding the right hooks. The hooks that they use are a light wire hook, I want to put heavier hooks on, but I need to find the short shank 2x trebles and I just have not put the afford in to it. In short, you can change the hook, but if they are too heavy, you will not get the right action.
Tight Lines,
Allan
