Did a little night fishing yesterday. I was rewarded with one possibly wild brown.

Great job Pat.  About an hour before you started I ended in that spot with a decent rainbow.  Euro nymphing has been a bit more difficult lately with the smaller bugs. Still picking away at them but the double digit evenings have been replaced by 2-5 fish.

VERY slow.  Personally I think the full moon makes things worse when it comes to night fishing.  I had a few blow ups but didn't connect on anything.  I did land one bow before dark on a streamer but overall very slow.  I was talking to one gentleman who had driven up from NYC to fish for the day.  I had told him I was going to fish into dark and he was nice enough to give me a mouse fly.  I tried the far bank with the downed trees up in Riverton and flooded my waders a bit when i got off the log.  I was quite soggy so i was off the water by like 930.

I fished for an hr yesterday and landed 9 on this black caddis nymph.

I also received some more euro nymphs from a friend that does particularly well on the Farmington.

Impressive numbers for such a short time, particularly at this time of year.

Impressive numbers for such a short time, particularly at this time of year.

They cut the flow so I found some deeper pools that would normally be more difficult to nymph and get down.  The beauty of it is I got to watch many of those trout eat.  They were slashing at both the ice caddis pupa (top fly) and the caddis nymph.  Not a bad way to kill an hour while I waited to grab those nymphs.

In other news I moved to Kent CT and have hit the housy in West Cornwall.  Unfortunately its a bit warm for trout but the smallies are happy to eat a streamer...and I got cleanly cut by a couple pike!

Today was good.  Also weird. Fished 6 to 10.  Cloudy and some showers. Had double digits in the first hour, mostly bows.  One big brown and a surprise double bluegill attack.  The purple haze was getting the job done.

Rainbows, browns and blue gills . . . Oh my.

Catching sunfish in the same waters as trout certainly is odd.
