I fished a footballl field long section of the North Hoosic below the Eclipse Mill dam in North Adams from 7:15 to 8:30 PM this evening.
It was partly sunny and 76 degrees.
I spent the first 20 minutes directly below the dam, trying to catch a fish that kept ripping my bait (I was using garden worms, rather than my usual, firmer bodied nightcrawlers) off the hook, before finally landing the culprit (a 10" brown)..
I moved downstream and had a brief strike at another hole, but whatever it was didn't come back.
I kept going and reeled in a 12" rainbow in the upper end of the last "run" before the river drops into the flood control chutes.
A little later on, I caught a 13" rainbow toward the lower end of the same run.
By then it was getting dark, so I called it quits.
