Got out finally for a couple hours yesterday morning. ended up with 2 walleyes, 2 perch, 2 sunnies, 1 smallie, 1 slime dart, and 1 sheep head. all in 14'.
That sun is no joke. Bailed of the boat once to cool off. water temp is 81.   Sully...

Nice job Bruce and Sully! I haven’t been out in a couple weeks. My boat is down. Waiting for it to be fixed and Snag is down with an injury so we haven’t been out on his boat.
Nice job findin em

Great jig bite last night 20-30' but again not one fish over 18" on the three spots we hit. Must have caught 30 or so with a few perch and a jumbo sunny mixed in. Fun for sure but where are any of the bigger eyes this season? I can count on one hand how many over 20" I've caught.

Most of my eyes have been 15" - 17". Biggest has been 22.5" and it got returned.

Nice fish Bruce
Just an opinion maybe it’s do to the up tick in numbers ,Personally I prefer 15.5- 17” for the table

eating and catching plenty in the right table fare range and several year classes of smaller fish below 15", just noting the absence of fish over 20" getting caught by myself compared to many years of my fishing Oneida

Little ones can be much more aggressive , and with the the larger population, I would expect to see more smaller ones caught ,
If I was looking for bigger fish I wouldn’t be looking to catch big numbers , that’s just me

Hi everyone.   Last week I asked for a night trolling advice.  Thanks to everyone who answered.  Just wanted to report back.  Was on the water last Saturday at 3 am. Drove around a bit to find fish on screen. Found them in 32 few.    Started to troll with nightcrawler harnesses and had no bites until sun started to come up.  Then limited with two friends in about 2.5 hours.  Is nightcrawler a day lure?  Should I have used cranks?  Any ideas?
Thanks,
Traveler

We used to anchor at night and fish with worms when I was a kid and sometimes we would hit them good.

I have only trolled Oneida one time early like you did, from about 3AM to sunrise and all of my bites came at sunrise too. I was trolling cranks that time.

Now on the Saint Lawrence river I do my best trolling for eyes from 3AM until sunrise. After sunrise I normally only catch bass.

My grandfather fished that way out of Apps for years, 2 shepards hooks with lanterns full of lake flies off side of the boat. We might have caught A few that way. I hear the lake has changed and that doesn't work as well, I wonder if it does.
