I’d be surprised if it will be after last year’s fiasco

I am being told that the hatchery will be open to the public. Hopefully they can get through this with no issues.

Hate to change the subject but it seems like whenever we have too strong a south wind in the fingerlakes, oneida doesn’t seem to get it. I usually make a few perch trips in the fall but how are the perch now.  I would imagine good.
I usually have made a half dozen erie trips by now, but the weather has made that impossible.  I’m exactly half way between oneida and Erie.

I am guessing the wind situation has a lot to do with the orientation of the lakes. I know East winds on Oneida always seem much stronger than predicted.

I would expect the perch fishing to be pretty good. Especially with some warmer weather coming. I have not been out. The water level is coming up steadily but it still may be a little low at some launches.

Rule of thumb for oneida is to double the forecasted speed and add 2.

I noticed that before when I have made the trip.  No matter what they say, the wind comes out the east lot. I wouldn’t mind if we had east wind in the fingers. Most of the time I fish the east shores.

easterly winds down the mohawk valley compress and incress wind speed so when they enter the lake a speed inhancememt factor is added .  the 20 or so mile fetch builds 3 plus foot waves  !!!!!!!! the lake is wnw  ESE oriented
