Perch Derby
« on: Jul 12, 2021, 12:18 PM »
I'm taking a poll of the perch jerkers that are interested in fishing the derby that will be held on August 28th out of Trail Creek marina in Michigan City.
In past years the entry fee has been $10.00 per boat, I was thinking of increasing it to $20.00, all entry fees are 100% pay back. Let me hear some
feed back before a decision is made. Keep in mind that this is a fun derby no blood involved  8)

I am in as long as the wife doesn't have any plans. To far in advance to say 100%.

Is the 28th date because you hope the best bite of year could be on? Too early for me to commit but would like to give the big lake a try. Be my first trip.

You never really know when the best bite will be with perch on the big lake, you'll just have to come and try it. It only takes one to win  ;)

Was curious how the contest pays. Biggest fish, heaviest bag, combined boat or seperate?

Al
Fish are measured by length, generally pay 2 places depending on number of boats 100% payback. And we generally have some kind of side pot.
You can fish as many people in your boat as law allows. We will fish from 8am-2pm. I'll post more details as we get closer to 8/28

I'm in.  $20 sounds good to me.
For those that have never been, It's not like a competitive tourney. Very friendly people who are willing to help out if needed.

 Hopefully the weather cooperates.

I am hoping they come around by next week. Keeping my fingers crossed. With the cooler water coming closer to shore the perch should follow. MAYBE
