A buddy of mine from work was up on the St. Lawerance Labor Day weekend (Clayton area)and said he saw a guy bring in a 40" walleye.i told him he was full of sh!! He said he saw the measurement and he swears by it.has anyone ever heard of 40 incher??
-
I've personally never seen or heard of one
So can't say
-
Just checked in fisherman weight conversation for walleye, only goes up to 34 inches and said they would be around 16.91 lbs
So.......
-
I would buy your buddy a camera...h2l
-
The world record (kind of) walleye was supposed to be 41” so....

it's very possible he actually seen a 40 inch walleye ,when I was fishing a small lake in the Adirondacks a few months ago we had camped along the shore line ,early the next morning I was casting I heard a load splashing and seen a big foot with a 40 inch walleye in his teeth! I was so stunned I didn't know what the heck to do ..... as I stood there the beast slowly turned toward me and growled ...I was frozen ..... he then threw a paper bag at me and ran away with the fish......after a few minutes and changing my pants I gathered the courage to look inside the bag .... imagine my surprised at what I found .......a bag full of horse manure ......just like the rest of this story and any story about a 40 inch walleye ..... new York record 18.2 pounds, 32 inches long, 21 inch girth. Caught on 5/5/2018 by Brian Hartman

you watch that video then look at harpers supposed 41 incher and I just don't believe that picture is a 41 inch fish
-
Stanley and a pic don’t lie!!😎
Your way of getting to the point always cracks me up Trap!!! 😁
-
This is the pic of Mrs. Harper with the record eye , there is a complete artical on the catch , and why it was reinstated,

I saw a 40" walleye once, and then I woke up. :D
On a realistic note I personally find it pretty hard to believe. But it sounds enticing haha
-
Im guessing the Guy in question , doesn't no a Northern Pike from a Walleye !

X2
Walleyed Pike or Northern Pike.
My dad used to call walleyes "pike".

i seen a 40 inch oggo poggo and got a picture here to prove it
-
Best part it is the recorded record 🤪
But i have noticed over many years that waking up from a dream sometimes things seem to be much bigger 🤪
-
:clapping:
-
Hey h2l what’s the biggest walleye you have seen ??
-
Thanks guys!! Trap I Lmbo when I read your post!! I might have to look for that Bigfoot !!
-
On Sacandaga...Seen about 29/30 inch. Close to 10lbs. Ice fishermen. He was going to eat it, talked him into putting it on the wall. Would have tried to talk him into releasing if I had been there when he caught. It was his FIRST time fishing the lake.
Caught 26 1/2". Some years ago....h2l

is that the record book your looking at in that boat Trap?? I’m certain that the oggo poggo record was a bit bigger that 40” 😁
-
I’m going to guess he’s either very mistaken on length. Or it was a northern pike and he doesn’t know his fish very well
-
I'm going to guess he had a few to many beers or he was just full of bs .......just my guess
-
That sounds right too haha
-
Caught a 28 inch 1969 mohawk river and a 31 hudson river 2009
-
My pb is 27" hudson river. 40" is a nice dream.

So.......
The current NYS record walleye was caught in may out of the st. Lawrence.. measured 33" weighed 18.2 lbs by Brian hartman had a 21" girth.. so... If it was a 40" walleye.... it wouldve made lots of news
-
Ontario Canada record walleye is 22-4 , 36.5” girth of 21” ,
-
(https://s33.postimg.cc/um6gqxau3/8585.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/um6gqxau3/)
this one was caught by my wife 2 years ago and was weighed and mesured by south town walleye anglers club
just over 30"
and weighed 11.57 lbs
so a 40" ? cant imagine
-
I live in pa.
Biggest I seen was my son's 29"
Out of Lake Wallenpaupack.
-
Over the years I’ve landed two 12#at 32” one was in Canada and an 11# at 31 and a 29 1/4 ,around 9-10# all went back except the 11#er it was during a tourney but those are not my favorite pics,
1 with a couple of buds fishing Erie in Ohio Few years back with smaller eyes , you might recognize the pirates on each side of me ,😉
to me it is more about the great memories than the size and looking forward to the future with all my fishing friends , not that catching big fish is a bad thing 😉 🎣

No wonder you're so d**n good at catching eyes...you've fished with the best...I recognize Gary Roach and not sure about the other guy...is that Gary Parsons?
-
That is Todd frank I’ve have known him and his family my whole life ,he’s a tackle rep these days , I’m lucky as I get to see many products before they hit I-cast
Far as good lol without luck it doesn’t happen , , i know lots of very successful fisherman and I’m proud to say most are members of these 2 sites , and get to read about other successful fishermen around the country and I enjoy the pics
-
Todd would stop into the bait shop when I worked there. Lots of knowledge (now I know where he got it) and not afraid to pass it on. At the time he was a rep for 13 Tackle....h2l
-
He still handles 13 -one 3 , Marcum ,strike master , rapala ,and northland to name a few ,
over the years he’s gave me some good tips
-
is that the same gary roach that makes the lazer ice blade sharpener???? I still have the one I got n 30 years ago ...keep it taped to my augher handle for 30 years best tool I have ever gotten
-
I read an article a few years back about a 36" eye. If there are 36"ers I don't see how there can't be 40"ers. C&R big fish so they can get huge. Here is a link to the article, the pictures don't look like a 36" fish in my opinion but that's what the article said. https://www.google.com/amp/s/articles.syracuse.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2015/08/was_monster_walleye_caught_and_released_on_hemlock_lake_a_state_record.amp
-
Hold out the fish it makes it longer
-
Yes Trapp it was , he’s got heis name on all kinds of thing , all that marketed stuff that says mr walleye ,
Hold out the fish it makes it longer
and in many cases looks goofy , we do it with big sheeps head for laughs ,

That fish looks really old. I don’t think it looks 36” though. I guess it’s possible the tape said 36” since it was suspended by the other fisherman, “taped while holding in under a minute”. Just seems like a good/bad self promoter to me.
-
hey if you want to make a walleye bigger rub toilet paper on them !!!! it worked on my butt
Lmao
-
Trapp No need To irritate just change brands 🤪

Freddie I was going to tell people if you get a 14 and a half inch wallet you can step on his head and he'll measure 15 but some people would take that the wrong way ...............
bye the way guys record fish are by weight length means nothing
-
Omg Trapp not the old walleye stretcher , mine is right next to my left handed hydrant wrench 😉
-
Top 2 in the contest today were over 40. One 23+ and the other 22+. My cousin took second place, 22 3/8 inches. Biggest pike was just over 40 inches. Same fishermen won biggest pike and walleye. It was the only walleye he caught today...h2l

I gotta say that the first time I shook Todd’s hand... it made me a better walleye fisherman.😁 What a wealth of knowledge that guy is!!
-
Hunts
Those are nice fish , congrats to your cousin

this is a picture of me fighting the biggest walleye i ever caught years ago ...it hit a dixie spiner with leach combo ...i was using a 7 foot st croix bait caster with a ambassidor 2500 spooled with 15 lb braided .... i will not give the exact location as freddie showed it to me and i won't burn his spots sorry .... i never weight it as i was afraid i had over stressed him and returned him to the water as soon as possiable besides i don't like keeping walleyes after they get over 25 inches...taste like mush
