Ah…just a  touchy wood turner Dom.

Love my birds and my wood turning. Old guy has to have some passions I guess.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Getting the teams all harnessed up.

Making the bases for them today and tomorrow. Gonna paint them white and put some feet on them. Then I’ll stick everything in place. Was thinking about getting some rolled cotton or maybe some of that snow looking stuff to put under the sleigh and reindeer.

Have to go check out the $1.25 store.

Made two for her today so I can work on some other stuff tomorrow.
Sycamore

The vertical lines are natural and part of the grain….which is really cool.

Red Heart

I love turning Red Heart. It’s very buttery and throws long shavings. Soft but finishes beautifully.

My Bride said to me “you’re having fun aren’t you” . I am, and I get a kiss and a big hug for each.

Santa’s are coming along.

“Santa Claus is Coming To Town” plays in my brain every time I make something with a Santa.

Well done. Knowing your skill set, I bet you'll somehow make them fly next.

My levitation powers have diminished with age.

Think they will just sit on a shelf somewhere.

I’ve decided to do a restoration on the marble machine and the rolling ball sculpture this winter. Something else will probably catch my interest….if I know me.

As the squirrel games are on hold till after Christmas, thought I’d show y’all this one.

A good friend who was a wood shop teacher at a local high school for 30 years  gave me two old hand planes.

Stanley No. 5 Jack planes. Actually he gave me one and I asked if I could restore another for him. He had a dozen assorted planes that the school was going to toss in the dumpster. Sad !

So I’m going to do an in depth restoration on them. Right up my ally after my experience restoring firearms at the gun shop.
Took one apart when I got home to assess the conditions.

I think they’ll come out looking great. I love doing this kind of thing.

He will most likely put his on the wall. I’ll use mine. I will probably ask for another to restore for my son. They sit on a shelf in his shop and he offered me all of them.

He owned a cabinet shop and I did many turned projects for him. In return he sent me many pieces of beautiful wood for turning. A really good relationship.

A nice guy who taught woodshop to thousands of kids.

You are very thoughtful and very talented. I’m sure your shop teacher will be very happy.

Well, I finished one plane today. Took longer that I thought.

Came out nice.  It cuts pretty well. Still needs a bit of work on the iron and chip breaker.  A sweet old plane anyway.
