First open water trip
« on: Apr 05, 2020, 04:20 PM »
I’m trying a little stream today after surprisingly seeing some fisherman at the first spot. I’ve never been to this “blue line” but I had read online that in previous studies F&G had found wild brook trout in it. Still I didn’t have much hope, but after walking down to the confluence of a bigger river I busted out the 3 weight mini rod and tied on something yellow and buggy. Shockingly almost, I got this guy in my third cast:

Not sure if it’s wild, but it put up a helluva fight. Got it on this fly:

Checking out some more of the stream now but even if that’s it I’m a happy camper.

Nice work, Z!
It is understood that fishing licenses, gas, bait, etc., all cost money, but try not to let a limit of trout be your only gauge for success. – Ben Nugent, (NH F&G) Regional Fisheries Biologist

Nice job brother!
It’s not being Cocky if you can back it up.

Nice! Our streams are still cold and blown out. Hopefully tomorrow I can find some decent water to throw some flies.

Sweet...and on the third cast, who cares if its native, it's a very pretty fish.

Thanks for the kind words. It ended up being the only fish of the trip, but I follow the stream up to a beaver dam that was taking up about 20 acres or so with the high water. Next time I will keep hiking up and see what else I can find.

Love hiking thin blue lines...the pay off is well worth it
