Title: Stupid question about 8 hp. Yamaha 4 cycle
Post by: taxid on Nov 20, 2021, 08:36 AM: I bought it a used couple of years ago and it starts right up, runs at idle on the lowest setting, and never had any issues with it. Other than the prop got dinged up it runs like it's brand new. Been bringing it into the house instead of winterizing it.

Should I be doing more?

I'm an artist not a mechanic so I lack in that area. Thanks in advance!

Post by: Stik on Nov 20, 2021, 09:15 AM: The beauty of an outboard winterizing ez. Lower unit so water drains Would be a good time to also drain your lower unit gear oil make sure no water in there to freeze

I don't allow my home to get down to freezing. ;D

Post by: lowaccord66 on Nov 21, 2021, 06:10 AM: Great little outboard. Only thing id add is seafoam it or run it out of gas conpletely. If you want to get freaky drain the bowls on the carb.
