Thank God someone had the good sense to shoot this down. The 62 Aye votes going into this has me shaking my head. :-\

Yeah, I was a bit puzzled by the 62 aye votes. Figured it was a done deal at that point. There has to be more to this story behind the curtain. The fact that the queen vetoed it tells me something more going on.

I am completely shocked that it got vetoed.
It gives me a tiny bit of faith that our voice is actually heard occasionally.
I guess we should all be checking what bills are in the hopper to see what else might be getting the fastrack through…

I tried to read the bill. It seemed so poorly worded that it was not meaningful and probably unenforceable. Maybe it was just a "feel good" proposal. Maybe it was intended to send a message to the DEC. On the other hand, I do not know if/how a veto can be overturned by the legislature in NY.

Yes definitely check into some of the current bills that are being proposed. They aren’t sporting related but some pretty scary stuff. One of them is imprisonment without trial if deemed a public health risk by Hocul. Others include taking away parent consent. This governor is pretty wacky.

I really do not know all that much about Kathy Hochul . I do know two things. She is a western NY girl and she bought a gun at a gun raffle in the southern tier a few yrs back. That tells me all I need to know.

Lieutenant governors are elected separately from the governor in NY I believe. Not a running mate of the governor elected.
close ! While governor and lieutenant governor are elected by a single joint vote in the general election, they run separately in the primaries .Lieutenant governor is not "picked" by the governor at all rather the people that voted in the primaries
