Who turned winter back on?

Last year and the year before I was ice fishing on this date.

It is depressing a little bit...this seems to be almost identical to 2013..

Sure is. Just finished cleaning 5" of crusted over snow off the boat. I did not expect to be doing that today. Glad those travel covers are sturdy.

Did anybody go to the hatchery this weekend? I saw some cars down there Saturday but didn't stop by. I am very curious if this strange weather will prolong the walleye spawn. I hope not.

I heard today that only 6-7 tanks have fish and, 3/4 of the egg holders are empty. They didn't get the eggs they were hoping for. Also, heard  the state didn't have the extra funds for extended egg taking. Just relaying what I heard. If someone has anything they can add to this, please do so. Thanks!

Looks like they are under quota, I think the new guy dropped the ball. The dam was full of fish before they even put the nets out. I thought they put the nets in the day after the ice went regardless of how cold it is, but what do I know.

I personally took a ride to the hatchery today. 6 full tanks of walleye and it appears that about 3/4 of the egg containers are full. That was better than what I heard yesterday. I got to see 3 nice walleye get tags inserted while I was there and they got a boat ride out to the center of the lake to be released. Not many fish in the creek where I looked.
