Last year - once with Jeff.

Yea, and each year I'm torn whether or not to wait and use the boat late into the season.
On one hand, glad the boat is winterized and away - the job is done.
But also sorry because it would be fun to use here and there until it really gets so bad (frozen) that you cannot launch the boat.

I have a 2.5 detached garage that is 2 cars deep on the right half.
And it's insulated and heated.
Full 85,000 BTU house furnace.
Great setup.
Nice place to keep a boat well into the cold months so it can occasionally be used.

But my youngest son Chris moved back home for a bit.
And all his furniture, etc. is out there and just about fills the garage.
So no room for the boat if I wanted to wait.
And certainly no warm place to winterize it later when the weather does turn to $hit.

Soooo..........best thing was to get er done.

But I can still b***h Greg.

 ;D

Got both motors winterized on the Lund Saturday.
Took it to the storage facility yesterday.

3 more winters to do this.

Maybe 2 if I sell it sooner.

Got the place on the lake all winterized and closed up too.

Winter sucks canal water.

Oil and lower unit changed out in both motors , fuel treated , motor fogged   , water separator checked , all nuts and bolts sprayed on the trailer , graphs removed , lake reel drags relaxed , rods all socked, hatches all open to air out , washed and waxed , and back in the garage until spring ,

It's getting close to shutting things down for this year.
We have a cruise scheduled for mid October.
So in the next few weeks I have to get it done and into storage.
Always kills me to do it so early, with all of the local perch fishing to be had.
But I simply don't want to come back from the cruise to be faced with it.
Same thing with our place on Lake Erie.
I'll close that up too.

2 more summers with the lake place then we will sell it.
3 more summers with the boat and then I'll sell that.
Afterwards, when we move to Florida, I will never have to winterize again.

Changed the lube in both lower units earlier today.  Will change the crankcase oil and filters next weekend.  Also purge each with pink stuff and fog each.

It’s over.

I'm going in the other direction. I just put mine in the water for the first time this season yesterday. It felt good. I noticed the transom was getting soft last year. I've had the materials all year, just didn't get the time to do it with babysitting the grandkids and living at camp.
I finally got a couple of undisturbed days last week and went at it and got it all replaced.
Anyway, winterizing it will be quick because I went through everything all ready. Hopefully I'll get a few good weeks in before deer season starts.

I've brought my Yamaha 8 horse in the house for the last two winters and it starts right up and runs like a top the following fishing season. Should I be doing more?

If it's a 4stroke - change the oil in the crankcase and the oil filter.

Run the fuel out of it, or run some stabilized fuel in it before bringing it inside.

Change the lower unit grease and pull the prop and check it for fish line.  Reinstall the prop.

Lastly, consider changing the water pump impeller.

Also, grease the zero fitting on the tiller pivot shaft; if there is one.
