https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/121334.html

DEC announces record sales for big game licenses.

I see this as good and bad.

The good, well for those of us that hunt on or near state land, this should help make the deer more active. In addition, it’s an uptick in the number of hunters, which has been slowly deteriorating over the years.

The bad, in my eyes, is you’re going to see more hunters that are less seasoned, which could lead to an increase in accidents. I also wonder how the new hunters and born again hunters will respect the outdoors. We will see more trash being left in our beautiful woods?

Having more hunters will have it's issues but I think it is a good thing if it helps to keep the sport alive.

Here is another DEC proposal.

Looks like they want to add 7 more days of late MZ and bow for Christmas week in the Southern Zone. I like the idea of being able to get my kids in the woods when they are on vacation.

And the high volume of license purchases could have contributed to the issues with issuing tags.

And I hope they pass the extended muzzle season.

Dec is looking for comments on a “holiday deer hunt” in the southern zone from December 26 until January 1.
I tried posting the info but couldn’t figure out how to do it.  Maybe someone can google it and then post.

Purchased my license online today. Got both DMP selections but had to use a PP.

I found it strange that there was only a box to check for the back tag when I selected the address for shipping. I hope that I don’t encounter the issues people have been experiencing receiving their tags
