All Fishes Great and Small

Since it's a Sunday, it seems appropriate to paraphrase the title of the famous hymn to sum up my afternoon's angling action.

The weather was mostly sunny and about 50 degrees and the stream levels were about "just right" when I began by fishing the South Hoosic in Adams from 12 noon to 1:15 PM.

Starting at the Old Stone Mill, I fished down to a little below Elm Rock, and back, without a single strike, so I worked my way upstream to the Burnett/Bednarz Bridge, where I finally hooked and landed a 16" rainbow.

Then I was off to the Greylock Glen, where I tried my luck from 1:30 to 3 PM on my "old reliable" brook trout stream and ended up with ten brookies - - ranging from five 3" midgets to a single 6" giant.

By then, the weather had clouded up and cooled down by about 5 degrees, so I called it an afternoon - - harvestiing a few dandelion greens (to add to my sandwich for work tomorrow) along the way as I walked back to my car.
