Stripers - Hudson River (Chunk Bait)
« on: May 17, 2024, 04:41 PM »
Hello,
I am going to try my luck this weekend in the Troy area for Stripers.  I have some frozen herring to use as chunk bait?
What part of the herring does everyone have the best luck with (Head , Body, or Tail).
I plan on trying to catch some live bait on Sabiki rigs while the chunk is soaking.

Thanks in advance and any input is appreciated.

Jeremy

Not any real difference I know of, each person has their preference. Good luck.

I used to use whole dead herring, but if chunked, preferred the mid-section.

I'm no expert, but I've seen the chunk bait attract more catfish than stripers. Concentrate on getting live ones in the bucket rite off, then fish.
