Picture Posting Instructions; (Modified 4/5/09)
Your photos must be stored online in order to post them.
You can open a free account with www.photobucket.com, www.myfishingpictures.com, or www.hunt101.com
The following instructions are for photobucket account members:
To post pictures to the site...
1. Follow the Instructions on Photobucket upload your pictures to your Photobucket account.
2. Resize any pictures you'd like to post to a maximum of 400x600 pixels. Larger pictures distort the forum page and take longer to load. This can be done easily in Photobucket using the "Edit" options.
3. Open your photobucket album and find the photo you want to add. Place your cursor over the picture and a drop down menu will appear.Click on "Direct Link" and the link will be automatically copied to your "clipboard".
4. Paste the copied link to your post on MyFishfinder.com.
To add an Avatar picture to your account...
1st - Upload your picture to Photobucket from your computer.
2nd - Resize your picture to no more than 120 x 120 using Photobucket's "Edit" options.
3rd - Right click on the "Direct Link" for that picture .
4th - Open your Iceshanty "profile", then click on "forum profile information" and paste the address to the "I have my own picture" box and check that box. .
5th - Then click on the "change profile" button on the bottom right of that page.
Your avatar should now be displayed in all your posts. You can change your avatar at any time.
For other photo storage sites that don't install the "img" codes onto your photo addresses, you'll have to add them manually.
The "Add BBC tags:" tool bar is at the top of every message dialog below the "Subject" dialog box and the "Message icon". In row above the smilies, click on the 2nd icon from the left...the "Insert Image" icon(it looks like a small picture).
The command [ img][/img] will appear in your text message.
Paste the address of your picture between the commands like this;
[ img]paste your image location here [ /img]
Be sure not to add any spaces or other characters.
Preview your post to be sure your picture is there and then choose post.

I have just purchased a Kodak Digital Camara with a Dock II hook up to my computer to process pictures. I have an Easy Share Soft Ware System for storing pics and now have mystic Color Labs to use on line to share on the WEB. What file name name is inserted between the Brackets? Is the individual picture the file name?
Charlie
-
Charlie,
Click on the thumbnail of the pcture you want to post . This should bring up the full sized photo.
Now right click on the photo and choose "Copy Image Location".
Next, paste the image location between the brackets.
Remember to resize your photo before downloading it to Mystic. Avitars should be no more than 120x120 and posted photos no more than 400x600.
Contact me if you have any problems.
RG
-
Dear RG,
The problem we are having is that we can't seem to pull up the copy image locator when we right click on the picture. When I right click it lists options to use but no copy image locator. Am I looking at the right menu, or should I try it a different way?
Charlie
-
Charlie,
When you right click on the full sized picture the options menu lists "view image" then "copy image location" .
What browser are you using?
RG
-
RG, any problem with 600x450? Resizing a 1600x1200 image to 600x400 would require cropping or distorting the original image.
-
Chucker,
Nah! It'll work ok.

-
Charlie,
Are you having problems posting pictures?
RG
-
I'm having the same problem as Charlie. I don't get the "copy image location" tab either. What do I do??
-
Hoagie,
What operating system are you using
what photo storage site
what internet browser?
RG
-
Windows Millenium, mystic colourlab and Explorer.
-
Hoagie, Let me check out Mystic...Haven't used it in a while...mostly I use Photobucket.
I'll get back to you shortly.
RG
-
Sorry guys, I let this one slip my mind. Not hard to do at my age. ::)
I don't know what you're doing wrong other than this possibility;
Maybe you haven't properly uploaded your photos to a web storage site, that is ...Photobucket or Mystic.
I checked my album on Mystic and on right clicking a full sized photo, the "Copy Image Location " command comes up as always in the dialog box.
I suggest going through the instructions again ...step by step ....let me know exactly where you have a problem.
RG
-
My 2 cents, photobucket is by far the easiest to use,
they give you the links under you pic and
very easy to resize if you want.
-
personally i love photobucket.com havnt had a problem yet
-
i'm using photobucket and i don't get the tab that says copy image location either. i have been trying to load a pic to show up when i post but it's not happening, what do i have to do to get it to appear?
-
Ditto. There is no "copy image location." Windows XP, photos loaded into photobucket.com.
-
i got windows 2000 and photos in photobucket as well.
-
Once you have your image uploaded to Photobucket, simply copy the text in the field located next to the Img label. It'll look something like this-
[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/echucker/mendon.jpg[/IMG]
Paste that into your post on MFF, MHF, or IS, and you're good to go.
-
Thanks, Chucker. YOU THE MAN.
-
OK I can down load only one picture per post how do you get multiple pictures per post ?
-
Just enter another url with the img tags like below, please place each on a new line or it will span too wide for the forum.

Scott not being computer savvy I usually copy my URL then paste it in my posts,is it possible to copy and paste more than one address?Or do I have to write down the addresses then post them? If I minimize the MFF post to go back to photobucket and get another picture my post deletes itsself.I thought I could go into my post and make edits like adding another picture but it seems that editing ones post is no longer an option.
-
You can't copy mulitple urls from the browser address bar at one time unless you would have the urls in text document already. You shouldn't have any trouble switching between a photobucket window and the mff post window by either selecting them from the taskbar or using the minimize/maximize browser buttons to get at them. Your post won't delete unless you would close the window.

Please help! I signed up for photobucket and have gone through all the steps NUMEROUS times to attach a photo without success. Everything goes fine right up to inserting image however when I preview it before I post it, I keep getting the red X. I have windows xp and would love to post photos but that finally X is very frustrating. Even when I click on the X show picture, nothing happens??? Hopefully someone knows what to do, thanks.
-
salmon44, go ahead and attempt to post here, and then we can try to help you out.

Sally
You should be able to do it right when you create your profile.. If you are using the photobucket when you upload make sure the size under options is Avatar.. then you will see 4 lines under each picture select the line and right click "copy" on the one that says direct link. then go back to My fishfinder open up your profile click on the forum profile line and then click on select your own picture then in the line next to it paste your photobucket pic you copied and then go to the bottom and save changes that should do it..
Welcome Aboard!!

Does anyone know if I can post a picture here from an Email that i received. It is some pictures of some crappie we caught today. I joined photobucket and I am trying to up load some pictures to photobucket from my email. Can it be done?
-
I've been kinda ignoring this thread I guess....sorry about that everyone. I'll try to be a bit more diligent.
Tracker,
save the picture from your email to "My Pictures" on your computer. Then you can upload it to Photobucket and in turn, post it here.
PM me if you need help.

Don’t know. I have no problems with my iPad.

Take it to an apple store and ask an associate for help.

Good luck with that. Last apple store I was at was less than worthless.
