we were catching fish all day and I had gave the boy my 4'6 st Croix to play with.  He had started off the day with small plastics and was doing well with smaller sized bass, crappie and gills.  As the sun started setting he demanded that I tie him up with a popping rapala I said that is overmatched for that rod, but his persistence paid off, I tied on that lure and sure enough to my surprise he started hollering fish on.........well case closed as far as the size and weight I would guess 6-7 lbs and 20-21 inches.  We got her back in the water ASAP cuz she was full of genetically superior spawn.
