Grand Lake
« on: Mar 24, 2015, 06:58 PM »
I would like to know about fishing Grand Lake from a boat. My wife just purchased a groupon for a two night stay in Grand Lake. I have never been and will be taking my boat. It won't be till spring time "Ice Off". I would like to avoid it being just a boating trip and hopefully it will be a fishing trip. Any info on past trips with set ups and lure selection would be great. I have lead core and will have my down riggers mounted by the time we go. Thanks for any hints or tips.

When I have gone, always used downriggers.  Couple years ago.  It can be hit or miss, just like fishing, and not catching.

Weird lake, Tiny boat ramp if I remember.  Goes from 6 ft deep to 400 ft in about 20 yds.  The chris-crafts come out and do laps in the afternoon.   Did I say it's kind of an odd place?

All is not lost.  All you need are some open edges or inlets and huck tubes or metal or streamers along the ice edge.

Weekend update. Grand lake in the spring is almost shut down. I fished the shore briefly no luck and fished the inlet at monarch lake also no luck. But I saw a moose as we hiked in. Eleven mile will just have to take me back.

Granby was open around the edges about 50 feet. Saw quite a few shore anglers.
