Got the Grandkids out today for the 1st time!

finally made it out with my grandkids for a few hours and we had a great time! Lots of action, no miss haps and left them wanting more! My Granddaughter at 5 looks like she will love the sport forever, with no problem digging out the worms for the hook! I think it was fun taking them to the same spot I took their father at their age...

That's great Allan...they look like they had a blast...I like the part of "no mishaps"...

I always find that keeping it short and the action fast, is the best way to get them hooked (if it is something they will like)... When my boys were a little older and I took them to the salt and put them on an Epic Blue Fish Blitz, my younger boy got a couple and said "that was fun", put down the rod and took a nap... My old boy could not get enough! I will let you guess which one is now a fishing guide and which one is an electrition...

As much as my granddaughter wanted to handle and release the sunfish, I just let her touch them and see the spines... Next time if she gets stabbed or hooked, she will be better ready for it. The best part is she wants a Next Time!

Nothing better Allan.  I was going to post earlier that youd be well qualified at the task.  They'll be landing eyes in no time.

Speaking of potential mishaps:




I had a 7'6 5 weight rod collecting dust and turns out it was perfect for her!  She caught her first gill on a fly later that afternoon.  Shes been ribbing me about fixing the boat.  She is good with leadcore and likes trolling. 

While I complain about the canal...on the flip side of things seeing a bunch if kids out there fishing is encouraging.
