Title: what motor for a inflatable pontoon boat ?
Post by: letsfish on Jul 18, 2011, 08:13 AM
i have a 9 foot pontoon . i've been thinking about a motor on it has anyone tried a small motor like a 2.5 hp . i know you can put a trolling motor on it but don't want to deal with recharging the battery.

Think you should be fine.
If boat is not designed for such, may want to reinforce the transom,
Should be fine with 2-5hp, but weight of motor on transom can crack it if it can't handle the weight

the boat is set up for a motor . i know what your saying about weight but with a trolling motor the weight of a battery and motor have to be close to a small outboard .
