A bunch of us trailered our boats to Fair haven, NY, last week to fish Lake Ontario. We had quite a gang from my Sportsmen Club, including several MFF members.
The fishing was not great, but was very good, especially as water temps rose later in the week. The weather gods cooperated, keeping us in port only 1/2 day. The catch consisted mostly of brown trout, with some steelheads, coho salmon, king salmon, atlantic salmon, and lake trout thrown in. The most notable catches by the group were a 15# brown, an 11# atlantic, and a 24# king salmon. The fishing is all trolling with planer boards or downriggers, or just flat lines off the stern. The shoreline produced most of the fish, in fact I never had my boat in more than 10-12 ft of water. The larger fish were caught offshore.
If you've never fished Ontario, you're missing a great experience. It's an unbelievable trout and salmon fishery. There are plenty of charters available, and lots of facilities for small boat anglers such as ourselves.
Here's a pair of 9# browns...

Funny thing is, I held up fine in the boat, I guess 'cuz I was always moving around. But on the ride home, my sciatic absolutely killed me. I had to have my passenger drive most of the way.

Due to some commitments, elevatorman had to go up a week earlier. He ran into a stretch of bad weather and the water was super cold. Sadly, he struggled to find fish.

The place is an awesome fishery. Here's a 24.5 lb brown caught at Oak Orchard during the first week of April.
