hhhmmm, that upset me off.

well, I was trolling for salmon out of my kayak, at about 10 feet underwater, with a spinner, and I had about a 10 foot leader of floruo and a maine line 8 pound test, connected with a swivel.  after trolling for about 30 minutes with no succes, I decided to move into a shallow bay to try for some bass. when I started back trolling again after trying for bass, I opened my bail and these HUGE spun up sections of line exploded out of my line like flies escaping from a jar. it was ridiculus. now how do I keep that from happening? any help would be really appreciated.

Did you use a ball bering swivel, or just a cheapo?
Some of the low end swivels on the market do little to nothing.

Some times that happens to me when fishing lite tackle, because the line isn't wound on tight enough.  So i run it through my fingers keeping it taught while realing it in.

sounds like you need to buy some good ball bearing swivels to me always used to happen when I trolled spinners until I switched to a better swivel .

I have to agree with quality swivel crowd
I switched a few years ago and what a difference
No more big birds nests
If the rule is 5 fish or 5 pounds, what if the 5th fish weighs 5 pounds?

Size of the swivel makes a difference too. Should use nothing bigger than 20# for fresh water.

another idea is to use bead chain for lite tackleor go to a bait casing outfit.
