The wife and I went out on Monday morning and like you say the fishing is a little slow but we did manage to catch 3. Biggest was 3 lbs. The water is still pretty murky and not many bugs yet. Next week it is gonna warm up a bit so hopefully fishin will pick up as well.

In my 10 years out here, it would be this year. My old buddy used to camp in his van at Camp Lever in the first week of April. Sometimes he needed a few planks to get out to the good ice, but never like it is now.

I think that it is the earliest ice has come off on most lakes in years. I know its the first time I could use my last years lic. to fiish open water since moveing up here 30 years ago. Well I hope to get out and wet a line this weekend. See ya out there. Tight lines

Me and a buddy were out on cluculz today, sure nice to be out on the water again.  Caught four small lakers 3-5lbs, which made the day even better. looks like the west end of the lake is still iced over. we were down by the yacht club and camp lever. I t was totally open there. It would have been nice to catch something we could keep though.

The east end has a little ice left but very little in the bays.

yeah, down by the island is still pretty much all ice.  With the warm temperatures we are supposed to get this week, should open up a few more lakes I hope.

Are you talking of Pettas Island?

anyone fished or seen gravel pit? ice off yet?
highs of 10's all week should get some open water happening.

drove by gravel pit yesterday, looks like it'll be a while before it opens up, still lots of snow on the ice. I'm not sure what the island is called, it is the one west of the yacht club, just past shallow bay.

The one west (toward Vanderhoof side) would be Pettas Island. There is only 3 islands on the lake with one on the far east side close to end of lake and 2 down the arm that kinda runs SW to NW. Must be Pettas Island because the east Island (with only one cabin on) is wide open.

Looked very solid this morning and the 2 guys walking on it were not tip toeing around like a mouse in a hen house. With lows of -7 to -10 out here, the ice will be hanging for a while.
