backwards trolling motor

I have a  minn kota endura 30lb thrust electric trolling motor. it goes forward when I turn the hadle to the reverse power and it goes reverse when I turn the handle to the forwad setting... basically its backwards. it started doing this on its own. anyone know how to fix this?

First thing I would check would be the battery connections, sounds like they are backwards to me.
