2005 LUND EXPLORER SS 1600, IS 75 HP ENOUGH?
« on: Jul 24, 2010, 09:03 AM »
I,m looking at a 2005 Lund Explorer SS 1600 with a Yamaha 75 HP 4 stroke. The boat is rated for a max 90 HP. Most of the comments I have read say go with the max horse power or you will not be happy. Anyone else have the same set up or comparible?
Also this will be my first boat, any coments on this boat and motor package will be helpful.
Thanks Esox Z71

You'd be very happy with that package, as is. 8)

 Hi

If you fish with 3 or 4 people most of the time go with a 90 HP because of the weight issue.
A 90 HP probably will only give you 5 miles per hour more then the 75 HP and use more fuel.
Yamaha's are good motors and Lund's speak for themselves.....tough boats.

If your boat isn't loaded most of the time I agree with gamefisher that the 75 HP would serve you nicely.
You don't have to drive at full throttle all the time and your best mileage will be at 3/4 throttle.

I have a 16 ft Sylvan rated for a 115 HP and I have a 90 HP on it and I do just fine.
