25hp or 15hp
« on: Jul 30, 2012, 05:57 AM »
Ok, looking to replace my Merc 15 hp four stroke with a Merc 25 hp two stroke. Going on a Smokercraft promag 140. (14'). Both have electric start, short shaft, except the 25hp has a 17" shaft where the 15hp is a 15".  Just looking for some thought.
Equal Billing: Crankbait degrees; Typically, the narrower the bill, the tighter the wiggle; the wider the bill, the wider the wobble.

Wish you lived close by I am looking for a short shaft 15hp for my boat. The new one you are getting sounds nice too.

I love the four stroke for trolling, takes you right down to about 1.4 mph. Hope I can get somewhat close with the 25. Just need more power for the boat. Both motors are a 2000.

Well, picked up the motor, it has a 15' shaft. The guy was measuring incorrectly. Runs great!!!
