decided to finally try for carp in a local pond and BAM what I figure is 15+ lbs
now I'm hooked!

That head-on shot is great. They look like they could put a dent in your boat, if they rammed it at speed.

I was reading through my fish identification book the other day and it say carp are members of the "minnow" family. That is one big minnow! Congrat's!

I've put sooooo many hours carp fishing and still came up with nothing. I tried boilies, store bought carp baits, pieces of bread and corn, also made hair rigs. but the only thing I have not done is chum which I was told is key. What did u try, bait/rig?

caught thia one and lost a bunch on trout size hooks couple peices of cord 12" leader and a slip sinker...nothinh fancy just like u would fish power bait...but I tied up hair rigs for tonight guess that's supposed to be the best

There is some productive carp water near me but have yet to try. Might have to find some time around stripers, largemouth and trout to tangle with one

yip gotta fish open bail I used a clothes pin to hold the line to the rod and the fish can pull it off easily. ..if your bail is closed say goodbye to your rod. gonna save up for a carp rod and reel with baitrunner

i love carp fishin. did you pre bait the area? i just bought some smaller bait runners. look at the okuma advenger bait runners at dicks. only 50 bucks and not bad quality.

no baiting really..threw out a handful of corn but dosnt get out far...got another one today not as big ad no camera man

I pulled the trigger on an avenger..pretty excited to try it
