If you like dipsy's try bud divers cheaper and easier than down riggers and planner boards. I use them with lead core on saltwater. The Weeds and debris on surface don't get wrapped on them. Great to watch with big Pogie spoons thumping. Got them from Great Lakes fishing catalog.
Really nice when you figure  out adjustments for down and out. They move down the line when stike release is triggered. Stops you from breaking tips off your rods for every green horn you get.

Snap weights and the bud diver looks cool. But they require lead weight, which is prohibited in the quabbin. If u can find tin weights in the size you need, they would be a nice alternative for sure. But im not sure they anyone makes tin weights that size.

Now if alwife run starts the hunt for 8 plus pounders can happen. Good luck everyone.

It's a good practice to change the lower end fluid when you winterize the boat. The reason is if water was to ever get in, you would get it out and it would not freeze and split anything over the winter.

The herring run started three weeks ago. Subscribe to the On The Water email, in was in their reports weeks ago, and their reports are usually at least a week old. I saw the herring in person three weeks ago, I posted about it and you replied to it.
