What happens if you try and troll with a drone, get a large strong fish on, and the fish pulls the drone so hard it has trouble flying? That could get interesting.  ;D

Planer board or down rigger release clip on the drone.
Line releases and you fight the fish and the drone returns automatically to you.

Like kite fishing guys been doing out in the ocean for years.

The drone is only a means of getting the line out. Think of it as replacing the cast. Fly the drone out, it drops the bait, and u fish as normal.

Id use a down rigger release off the drone.

.

You don't plug it in. It will become a stinger if you do.
Also lakers are better if you smoke them not fry them. ;D ;D

A planer board release clip may work better and weighs a lot less.

But then again why reinvent the wheel.  ;D

i sent my drone on its madden voyage this afternoon at the chu. made a few runs dropping shiners. it worked very well though the fish did not cooperate. i had 3 hit and spits...also threw a silver blue stripe croc for 5 minutes by the stone church and had a laker follow it to shore. also believe I spotted the white ninja(baitbucket) and i think allan?, i believe his name is, parked at the stone church. would have stopped to talk or even fish had i not been with my brother that wanted to show me a new spot and was a bit pressed for time. if you guys see this how'd you make out?

We got the skunk, alone with everyone else that we saw on that shore line... We each had some possible "bumps" on some lures, but nothing that did us any good... Now we wait for the Q to open!

Don't forget that someone may take exception to your drone usage, claiming you were spying on them, and take your toy down with a well timed/aimed shot. It's already been an issue while ice fishing, so open water would be next.

Bingo - we had one person buzzing us while in a canoe the weekend before last.  Told my buddy if I didn't care for my lure so much I would have taken the thing down.   I'm assuming the draw for most anglers being on the water is not having a drone buzzing around their heads.  One thing to use your toy in an isolated area; another to literally be flying on top of people.
