Today was too rainy to go fishing (the streams are roaring), so I went mushrooming with a buddy instead.

We did very well.

Besides filling a large shopping bag to the brim with oyster mushrooms, we also harvested a good-sized batch of honey mushrooms (which is a first for me, so I'm looking forward to trying them), a fair number of chicken of the woods (which I plan to use to make antipasto) and a few shaggy manes.

We also saw a big black bear scurry (with an odd sort of fast waddle) across the road about 50 feet in front of us on Route 116 in Savoy.

Good for you Bog. I must be picking all the wrong days this year. I've been out about 6 times and haven't found enough to cover a burger. Maybe next time.
