Nice but I don’t see any fishing rods…

I know Dom.
I kept thinking about the fact I coulda been dragging lures behind 2 rods for the whole trip.
I was only idling.
750-850 rpm - like only 1.9-3 mph the entire time.

Next time.
But not the scheduled boat trip on 12/6 we have planned.
There will be 6 other people on board.   And Macy of course.   8)

I started this in another thread and decided it really belonged here -

I will always miss Fall perchin.

And of course, a few other things.
But there are a few things down here that I can do that take their place.
There is no "perfect" place in the world.
No matter what anyone says or thinks.
What someone else likes, isn't always what others might enjoy.
And vice-a-versa.

From say November thru May, it's really awesome down here.
Otherwise, it's hot and humid.
If you cannot handle heat and humidity.................

As many know, originally, we were going to keep the lake place and do 5 months up there, and 7 down here.
We simply didn't want the extra "everything" that is required to own 2 places.
The work, the 1500 mile move twice a year, double the problems, increased security requirements, stress, cost, etc.
Donna brought this up to me Fall of 2021 when I was winterizing the lake place.

To be honest, our actual original plan was to move down here permanently.
But along the way a few years back we decided to give "snowbirding" a try and decided to upgrade everything out at the lake for our summers.
After the 2 years of building the new place Donna asked me "Aren't we supposed to be simplifying our life in retirement?".
I thought about it and decided she was right.
I asked her if she was 100% sure because once we sold the lake place, we couldn't get it back.
She was sure.

Soooooo.....................we now party down here.

The hurricane really took its toll on us and really tested our intentions.
We still haven't received the insurance numbers yet.
Afterwards, we then will need to bring in contractors to bid on the repairs and some changes I want to make.
So it is frustrating that we still really aren't "settled in".

The motorhome is gone.
We lost a bunch of cash on that deal, but as Doris Day sang about, "que será, será".
This, however, did allow us to move forward on the boat purchase.
I think the boat will allow us to get and away from things occasionally to de-stress a little.
So that is good.

The main thing I need is more shed.
My shed is only 9x7.
It's packed and I have a 5 x 10 storage facility pretty full.
I'm going to double the shed to 18 x 7.
This has to be done by a licensed contractor according to our retirement community rules and regs.
So, I will have the same contractor do this and the repairs.
This means having to wait.
Probably until after the first of the year at least I'm thinking.

Baby steps.

Tonight, we going to see an Eagles tribute band.
I bought a VIP table that also includes a buffet.
We asked our neighbors to come with us.
Should be fun.

“man…I had a rough night and I hate the …….Eagles…”

The “Dude”
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
