I got my license in 72 and it was $.36/gallon
Then the gas shortage BS happened in late 73.
Rationing, 55MPH national limit, etc.
Crazy.
  Speaking of ‘72.

Remember the days when we collected soda bottles and cashed them in at the local general store to buy gas. Big bottles @ 5 cents / small bottles @ 2 cents

Other options:
 Cut small lawn $1
Rake small lawn 1$
Wash car 50 cents
Deliver groceries by bicycle from local general store 2 mile limit 25 cents
And not to forget, pick apples at 5 cents a bushel

I owned a 57 Chevy back in the early/mid 70’s.

Yet, I still always wanted a Gremlin.

Stupid youth.  LOL

I always wanted to drop a small block V8 into one.

I just watched a show the other day where they dropped a Hemi into a Gremlin.  Show is called Roadkill.

Yea, only rated at 150HP.
 :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol:

And in 75/76, when emission laws took a strangle hold on the country, it was downgraded to a killer 120HP

Back then, I was thinking more of a small block with about 325-350HP
Maybe a 350 LT1 out of a Z28 or a vette

Bought a Gremlin for my Bride shortly after we got married. Worst piece of junk I’ve ever owned.didn’t last 3 years before I ditched it for a Dodge Dart.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

think I only paid a couple thousand for it, mine had a white stripe on the side  ;)
