Open water fishing is dwindling where I live, and ice fishing season has not yet arrived.
So I've had to find some other fresh air activity to pass the time.
Fortunately, one of the hill towns nearby has a blanket of snow on the ground.
So I was able to go cross-country skiing today for the first time since March.
It was sunny but cold (32 degrees), and I was able to get in a good 45 minute jaunt (out and back to my car).
Along the way, I encountered two hunters out for grouse and woodcock.
I also saw (and nearly struck) a large doe that bolted in front of my car on the drive up the mountain.
