The Tippe
« on: Aug 02, 2019, 08:32 AM »
Like every other river in Indiana, the rains and odd winter/spring weather of the midwest have altered the course of this stream.  Last week the weather and water levels finally cooperated and we made a canoe float trip in search of
smallies.  Old productive holes are now gravel bars and new areas have opened up.  There are many new downed trees.  The bite was erratic to say the least and the big'uns avoided us.  Best so far chunky 14 " that hit a big Zara Spook in about 10 " of water.  Another note, we saw no skipjacks, gar, or invasive carp. It's like everything has been rearranged. Gotta spend some time exploring this new stream...

Seeing pretty much the same thing. We floated the Tippy form Talma to Menominee Wed. Caught close to 20 smallies, only 4 of them in the slot and none over. Did catch a 31" northern. I used a super fluke and worm texas rigged and buddy used a jerk bait. The most grass I've seen in the river, actually got stuck in it once. Seems like everything about 2 weeks behind normal around here.
