I hunted chucks for many years on my good friend’s farm in Wyoming County. The instructions were to dispatch any cat without a collar. They had a pretty bad rabies problem and I was willing to oblige.

My25-06 could reach out and touch them. The farmers would get together and visit all the farms on feral cat hunts to help slow the spread. The kids would chase the cats out of the barns and the guys would tend to the fleeing felines.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Got out for a goose hunt over the weekend....all the birds that were using this farm showed up at the same time.  We got a few but it was over fast!!

Good luck to all the hunters heading afield...  I'll be heading down to the Catskills for Saturdays bear opener. I really have no desire to kill one but sure hope someone in our group does. Guess it's more of a social event for me, will be nice to get out and sit in the woods and maybe read a book or take  some pictures maybe even a nap. But to be involved in someone else's success will be hoot !!
