Hard to beat! The power, the speed, imaging if they jumped... Have you gotten any on a fly rod yet?

I chased their big cousins hard Thursday night into Friday...nada.  steamed over 120 miles all together.  Battled a huge shark and had my 200# swivel seperate even though we were chasing it with the boat....but another 50 so ill take it. (After my first bass was bitten in half)

This was high 40's

Heres the cow:

My arms are broken!

That looks sweet! I have a feeling, you will find some of their big brothers sooner then later.

Best of luck! One "trick" I learned long ago that makes things "safer" when using wire leaders for sharks is to use a two-part leader. 1st part braided wire 4+ feet long then an oversize swivel, then the section of single-strand wire (coffee-colored) to the hook. The main reason to use this "rig" is that when the fish is boat side, grabbing a big oversized swivel with your gloved hand is much safer than wrapping wire around your hand (though I use the back of the hand trick if I need to)... The other tip is if you hook a jumping mako, lighten up on the drag and run the boat 50-100 yards away and then start the fight... Much better than having a new member of your crew jump in the boat and cause all kinds of trouble!
I am going to have to break down and get a 14wt fly rod, lots of fun when the blue sharks are thick... It is just so much money for sadly a limited amount of use...

Perfect.  Trying to order some 50w setups for trolling and some spreader bars....unreal how much stuff is out of stock.

Dug this out of the shed.  Avet 2 speed with a trevala.  Need some 80lb saltiga boat braid and itll be ready to jig a few.
