Title: Lake Ontario Browns
Post by: 200fisher on Apr 28, 2014, 06:26 PM

Our group recently returned from our annual trek to Fair Haven, NY, to get in on the incredible Spring fishing on Lake Ontario. The weather hindered the fishing for a couple of days, but the other two days were fantastic! Limit catches then catch and release was the rule. The browns were of very nice quality this year, several at 10# plus. A friend in another group landed a huge 18-1/2# brown!

If you've never experienced Lake Ontario fishing, then DO IT! It's not that far and any 16' or so boat can easily handle the near shore fishing. All of our fish were caught trolling stick baits off the planer boards in less than 15 feet of water.

My friend and I go up to Oswego once a year in the late summer for salmon. If the wind and weather do not cooperate, the captain says we have to settle for 4 to 10 pound browns. Its a tough life!  ::)

Don

I had a nerve block injection at the left L-4 level 5 days before the trip. I didn't notice any significant improvement in my pain on the drive to NY, but the drive home was quite a bit more comfortable. The MD had said that the steroids can take up to a couple of weeks to provide relief so I guess that made sense. I was fine in the boat 'cuz I could get up and move around.

Hope your recovery is still coming along well.

Any improvement is good news with our backs, glad it held up for your trip. I had a minor set back, I'll PM ya with the info.

Awesome report and beautiful fish. That was one successful trip.  Hope the back feels better, those of us with back issues feel your pain.  Sitting is the worst.  My most recent injection was last week. With all the steroid injections I have had in the past years you wouldt hink I would be a massive man.  ARNOLD, you bettah watch out.
