Hardcore troller here in Vermont and having a great season so far!
lake bomoseen is producing some nice Browns up to 5lbs so far and there are much bigger fish with 10 lbers taken annually. We troll a lot of Luhr Jensen products(Needlefish) size 2 seems to be the best in the Brown trout and Pearl Bikini pattern. Stick baits we use Challengers and Megabaits in the 2and 3/4 size 10 to 15 fow has been good and the temp is arond 53 to 55 speed 1.5 to 2.2 we are running our baits about 40 to 65 ft back with good results. You can use the exact same program at Lake Saint Catherine in Poultney. We did 15 Browns on ST catherine on Sunday.
Salmon have been good at the Crown Point Bridge on Lake Champlain with good catches of 2 to 5 lb
landlocks 5 to 10 ft down and 40 back using size 2 huckleberry muffin needlefish.
Striper trolling on the Hudson River has been outstanding with a personal best day of 67 fish! The baits are Rapala Husky jerks and Yo Zuris in the Fire tiger pattern. the big fish arent in yet and we caught schoolies between 5 and 12 lbs. be careful on the Hudson it is a tidal river and you can get in trouble in a hurry.
There are also a lot of very big ships that will run you over!!! We were fishing out of Kingston NY.
There have also been good reports from lake Dunmore in Salisbury VT for lake trout and Salmon. Salmon on a dodger flie combo and lakers on yo zuris. Lets get this site going!!! It is great to have a place for we trolling fanatics.
