anyone out getting walleye .
« on: Oct 04, 2012, 08:48 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has been out catching walleye. I missed the spring fishing , going out on Friday at monksville.
If anyone is after rainbows and salmon u might want to give Wawayanda a try.

Heading there this morning. Troll some hair, plastic and metal. The color should be starting and the day is supposed to be grand. More later.

Better off heading to the Salmon river for them babies. If you like catching little ones  then fish here.  Of course, it's 4 hrs away too! Not really good day trip material.

The salmon river is for me a thing of the past.

The bigs are there, the fish on a bucket list for some cant come from a small lake in Jersey, but there are other rewards.

My preferred method is to troll. A quiet day close to home. Different strokes as the saying goes.

I know the excitement of fighting the big boys up in Pulaski . I did that back in the 80's and early 90's lots of fun.Now i am content with my local haunts . I have nothing but good memories of up state NY fishing. I did manage to get up to a private lake called Perch lake and caught and released a nice 6 lb. brown trout jigging in 50 ft of water .

Yes we have been getting out. Last Sunday in the rain and overcast we put two in the boat, an eight and a six. Bothe weights were estimates. now the scale makes the trip. The eight, my guess, was 25 inches a a porker.

At least I contributed, now lest see how many hits. 1226 hits and counting. ::) ::) ::) ::)

Oh wait a minute I got the pics!

And a beast of a smallie.........19 1/2". Both catches earned a skillful angler award. If I pinched the tail together a little more it might have made 20" and then it would have qualified for an In-fisherman Master Angler award in Region 1. Walleye have to be 30" to earn that in Region 1.

Another bud got one that was 19 1/2". He has huge hands so the fish doesn't look that big but it was. And a slob sunfish too!

We got 2 more today. The first fish of the day was a 25 3/4"er.

Here's the 2nd one that Marc landed.

A better pick of the one Marc landed 24 1/2".

Another bonus 19 1/2" Smallie

Very windy but a great day.
